What happens to the top prize money if a winner dies?
If a winner dies once the annuity policy paying out the monthly payments has started, the winner’s estate will receive a lump sum payment equal to the cost of the policy paid by Allwyn, less any payments already made under the policy. If the winner dies after he or she has already received the full cost of the policy in monthly payments, no payment will be made to the estate.
If a winner dies before the monthly payments have started, the winner’s estate will receive a lump sum payment equal to the price Allwyn would have paid for the annuity policy, plus the initial validation payment of £10,000 that would have been paid by Allwyn.
More information is available in the Set For Life Game Specific Rules.
Can I claim the prize as a lump sum?
Is the top prize tax-free?
Yes – in most cases, the top prize is paid tax-free as it is dealt with at source. In all cases, based on current tax rules and rates, we have designed the game so that all top prize winners – regardless of their tax bracket – receive a minimum payment of £10,000 each month after tax.
All top prize winners are offered a meeting with a Financial Advisor during which any questions relating to tax can be discussed.
