In the end, it wasn’t to be. But The Lionesses leave the World Cup competition with heads held high having made the whole nation proud and inspiring a new generation of women and girls.
The impact the England Women’s team has made was evident when England and Arsenal striker Beth Mead visited Actonians FC, one of hundreds of grassroots clubs supported by The National Lottery.
The simple message from Beth and the stars of tomorrow: we’re so proud of you!
During her visit to Actonians FC, Beth met some of the club’s girls.
Emphasising the importance of National Lottery funding to women footballers of all ages, she said women’s and girls’ football has been supported by £50Million of National Lottery funding.
