Road to riches: supermarket delivery driver bags £3.8MMillion

Jonny Johnston, 45, and his partner Christina Williams, 46, from County Fermanagh, admit they are still in disbelief after their life-changing win on Saturday 16th December, saying it is ‘a dream come true’.

Jonny was delivering festive goodies to customers just before he discovered his change of fortune. On completing his rounds, he enjoyed a Christmas night out with colleagues before spotting an email from The National Lottery announcing there was ‘good news about [his] ticket’. However, it wasn't until the following morning that Jonny and Christina checked the National Lottery app.

The couple could not believe what they were seeing and thought it must be a trick. Only after calling Camelot to get the incredible £3.8MMillion win confirmed did it begin to sink in. Jonny and Christina then broke the news to their three adult children when ‘the screaming and shouting started and everyone was jumping around the kitchen, cheering!’. Jonny said, “Seeing as it was still early, we popped the kettle on and toasted the amazing news with a cup of coffee!”

Whilst still getting his head around the win, Jonny had to work another shift at Tesco before Christmas. On Saturday 23rd December, he handed over bags of Christmas turkeys and all the trimmings to unsuspecting customers who had no idea the man helping them load their car up was a millionaire.

The family plan to use this newfound wealth to go away on their first foreign holiday together to the Caribbean. Other purchases may include a vintage car for Jonny and even a tractor for one of their farm-working children but the family admit it is early days and they are still working out their wishlists.
