Glasgow couple say their £300,000 win has left them in ‘complete shock’

An extension, a new car and dream bathroom for mum and dad as well as helping their daughter get on the property ladder are top of the shopping list for National Lottery Scratchcard winners Elizabeth and George Galloway.

Alongside helping their loved ones, the lucky couple from Glasgow, who scooped the top prize of £300,000 on a Bonus Bingo Scratchcard, will relish their windfall by spending more quality time together and enjoying a few staycations. The overjoyed pair are also set to pay off their mortgage almost 15 years early.

The story of the winning ticket began in a Tesco Extra in Glasgow. Elizabeth, 49, initially thought she had won £1,000 before going into ‘complete shock’ when she discovered it was in fact £300,000.

Elizabeth said, “I called my daughter and we went back to Tesco together to check I wasn’t seeing things! They said I needed to contact Camelot, so I knew then that I must be right!

“After Camelot confirmed everything, I called my husband who thought I was winding him up. I was ecstatic and kept having to check it was real – I still can’t believe it now!”

Elizabeth bought her winning Bingo Bonus Scatchcard at Tesco Extra, St Rollox Business Park, Springburn Road, Glasgow. The Bingo Bonus Scratchcard from The National Lottery has 1 in 3.22 overall chance of winning a prize. The game costs £3 and prizes range from £3 up to the top prize of £300,000.
